My Two New Best Friends

The boys played with the box all day long. Bostyn loved climbing all over it--their favorite part was the box, but mine is what was inside the box!

So I have a new best friend, and it is purple and plugs into the wall--can you guess what it is? Well, it is my new Dyson vacumn!! I used it for the first time this morning and it was really grose what it picked up! We have gone through 2 vacumns since we've been married, so we splurged and bought the heavy duty vac! It better be worth the $$$ or I'll be really upset---so far it is performing GREAT!! It took me a while to figure out how to use the vacumn though...it has so many different peices for doing different jobs around the house. I still need to read the owner's manual and find out what connects to what!

The filter was filled up in a matter of minutes! I really have vacumned recently--but it has just been with a broken vacumn! Yikes!
My other best friend and my husband's worse nightmare is ROSS!! It was the grand opening in Layton this past weekend and I have already been twice!! The first time I had the boys with me, so I ended up sitting in the corner reading books to Gage the whole time. Everyone else found lots of stuff though...I felt like I didn't get my fill of shopping....so my mom and I took another browse last night and I hit the jackpot!! It's been a long time since I've actually found some clothes that fit and look good! (You know how it is trying to find clothes after having a baby--your bod is just not the same!) At least that is my justification for spending too much money! Dave may have to lock me in the house or take the debit card away!

Another Week!

A couple weeks ago a friend of Dave's brought some clothes and costumes over for Gage. His kids had grown out of them, so we received them! Gage loves them. We are constantly playing pirate. Somehow, I have managed to become the Giant that the Bad Pirate battles--it's been a lot of fun!
He also got this Hulk costume and he is flexing his HUGE muscles for everyone to see!
The boys taking a bath! Gage loves that Bostyn can sit and play with him in the tub now! Of course, Gage gets mad because Bostyn splashes him too much!
With Bostyn moving all over the place he finds himself getting stuck quite frequently. The other day, Gage came and told me that Bostyn was stuck in the computer---and this is how we found him! Bostyn got his shots this last week, and he also got his first tooth! It was a double whammy for him, but he made it through!

This last week we went over to our friends house from the ward. We had dinner and then we went and played Church basketball. I thought that I would be able to play well, and not be sooo tired--since I have been going to the gym about 3 times a week....however, I was sucking wind the whole time! I have realized that exercising on the eliptical is a lot different than running. So this next week I am going to pick up the pace at the gym so that I won't be dying on the basketball court! It was fun to play, but it made me realize that I'm getting older and it's not as easy to be in shape as it used to be!!
I am one of the Sunbeam sharing time leaders, and it is quite the circus in there! Last week, kids were climbing on chairs, tables, and climbing into the cupboards! So I decided to make a good behavior chart where they can earn stickers. It worked pretty well this week! At least it wasn't a ZOO in there today! Gage is in this class, and surprisingly he is one of the BEST ones in class. For those of you who have been around Gage and seen how active he is, well, you would just have to see it to believe it!

How do I Love Thee?

I thought I would do a little Valentine's tribute to my husband, Dave! This is my favorite poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning from Sonnets from the Portuguese, and this is how I feel about Dave. I don't know where I would be without him and I'm just thankful that he is my Eternal companion and we can be together forever!

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Two of Your Favorite Things to Do: Hang out with Dave, Gage, and Bostyn…and Sleep!
Two Things you Did Last Night: I attempted sewing a nursing shield for my friend, and I got so frustrated that I cried! (I apparently cheated my way through my TLC class in Junior High) I made cookies for Gage’s Valentine exchange at Music Makers. (I was so frustrated with the sewing that Dave had to bake the cookies or it would have been a meltdown) Thank Heavens for a great Husband!
Two People you Last Talked To: Gage and Julie from my ward
Two Favorite Holidays: Christmas!! and the 4th of July…Although, I think as a kid Valentines was my Favorite—I remember getting so excited to make a Valentine’s box and to get cards and candy from my secret admirers. I also loved giving the cute boys in my class specially made Valentines.
Two Favorite Drinks: Cherry Coke and Strawberry Margaritas (Virgin, of course)

Two Favorite Foods: Olive Garden Chicken Alfredo and Oatmeal chocolate Chip Cookies!
Two Longest Car Rides: Kaysville to Scottsdale, Arizona (Dave and I tried to take a shortcut and we ended up adding a few hours to the trip. However, we did stop at this cute little town where we let Gage crawl all over the floor at a grocery store—people looked at us like we were crazy! Hey, it had been a long day!) The other longest trip was on the way home—Gage was really sick—he was throwing up and had diarrhea and whole way home…we had to stop several times. Gage also had a rash and fever with it. We found out when we got home that he had Rota Virus…Thank goodness they now do vaccines for it! (Gage was 14 months at the time of this trip, 2005).

(Dave looking at the map trying to figure out where we were)
(Gage sick in the Car)
(Gage's rash--you can't see it too well, but it covered his whole body--so sad)

Two Places I’d Rather be Right Now: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (I will be there in the summer so I guess I can wait!) and Summer Time!

(On the Beach in Cabo)

(Out to Dinner in Mexico--we were being serenaded!)

Kid Swapping

Gage and Cooper pretending to be asleep!
Bostyn and Addison playing together....so sweetly!

The last couple of weeks I have been kid swapping with my sister-in-laws, Tara and Amy. On Wednesdays and Fridays Amy and I swap kids for a few hours to give each other a break. Gage and Cooper(Amy's son, age 3) are best buddies. However, they can also be little terrors when they are together. This Friday they were over at Amy's house and they created a huge mess. Jay and Amy had some boxes that a desk came in, and inside it was the styrofoam to protect the furniture. Well, they managed to break apart all of the styrofoam and spread it all over the floor in two bedrooms, down the hall, all over the walls, and in the living room. They claimed that they were doing a dance!! Of course both boys knew they were in trouble. It took Amy three vacuum bags full and two big garbage sacks full, to pick up all the foam. And of course, there are still small peices scatter throughout the whole house. All this destruction happened in about 10 minutes, while Amy was playing with Bostyn and getting her makeup on!! Amy told Gage that she was going to call me and Dave to let us know the trouble he caused. Gage begged Amy to only call me. He said, "Don't call my Daddy, he is at work and he will be very mad at me. Please, just call my Mommy. Only my Mommy....please!!" Gage knew that he was naughty, but this is one of those things that you just look at and have to laugh!! This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time that something like this happens.

On Friday nights, we have been swapping kids with Drew and Tara, and their baby girl Addison (11 months). Last week Addison came over and our boys just adore her. She is such a good baby. We can leave her and Bostyn in the same room playing, and she just sits there and plays with her toys. She has never tried to tackle him or anything of that sorts! She is so much fun to take care of!!
Last night, Drew and Tara watched our boys so Dave and I could go out to dinner. It has been way too long since we have gone out on a date! We went to the TEXAS Road House--Yummy!! I love this place! After we battled for a parking spot, we went in and put our names on the list. However, the wait was going to be 40-50 minutes, and that is just too long to wait when you have a baby at home who won't take a bottle! So, we decided to sit at the bar for a fast service dinner. Little did we know that Dave was going to have a date with a drunk man named Billy!! When we sat down Billy talked with Dave about every sports team in every sport! I was getting a little upset because I wanted to have a date with my husband and I didn't want to share him. I was thankful when another couple came and sat down next to Billy. Dave was rescued, and the other man was taken captive. I watched as this man's wife began to get upset as she sat on her date alone! This was so funny!! So from here on out, when Dave and I go on a date, we will see if Billy wants to tag along!!

Lunch with the Girls

Alli, Me, Kelli, Jamie, Sherrie, Braden & Kristen, and Emily

Today I went to lunch with some of my high school friends. It was sooooo good to see the girls. Some of them I haven't seen in a couple years, and others it had only been a couple days since I'd seen them--but nevertheless, it was so good to see everyone. It was fun to reminisce about old times and how stupid we were as teenagers. We talked about the first time we met each other and how things evolved from there. My friend Kelli reminded me that the first time she met me I had burs stuck all over my hair. We had snuck onto Davis golf course and as we struggled through the bushes to get back to Emily's house, I must have fallen in a bur tree!! Kelli spent the rest of the night picking burs out of my hair!! The good old days of being crazy!! Many other memories were talked about over lunch, but unfortunately they can't be shared with the public!! All I can say is that we had a lot of good times in high school!!

Not Ready Yet

Well, about 2 weeks ago Bostyn started getting up on his knees. He is army crawling and lunging forward. It is really cute and funny to watch him. He plops around to wherever he wants to go. However, he does get himself stuck quite frequently. His new favorite place to go is by the front door--where a basket of shoes are. He loves shoes for some reason. If there are any left out on the floor he will chew on them--it's really grose. I don't think I'm ready for Bostyn to be crawling all over the place yet. Gage was 10 months when he started crawling so this is really early. Bostyn is also sitting up pretty well. Of course he has a tumble every now and then, but he's pretty good at catching himself so it's not such a rough landing. I need to make sure the house is really baby proofed--you forget about that stuff with a toddler.
